Making Silence
Mart Lebedev, Jay Ryves, Daniel Shipp and Sasha Ruth Woolley
9 Aug - 2 Sep
The works in this exhibition don't freeze motion but rather collect stillness. Working with still and digital photographs four young Sydney artists all incorporate the idea of silence into their images, capturing or creating honest moments that sustain a sense of speechlessness.
All the works intimately identify a humble fragility that invites contemplation. Calculated but not complicated is the essence of this exhibition, with a second of silence animating each work. It is the moment before interruption, before the fate of the image.
