Geoffrey Bartlett - Silver Cloud
18 Sep - 12 Oct
Geoff Bartlett's work involves the use of contrast and tension, combining organic and graceful metal forms of bronze, copper and steel with solid timber elements. Since the early 1970's, he has been developing his sculptural form, honing down the essence of fluidity and tension present in his works and further revealing and enhancing the striking amalgam of textures and materials that characterise his evocative structures.
Bartlett remains one of Australia's most visible and sought after sculptors with many high profile public and corporate commissions that enhance our environment with their rich visual stimuli. He has exhibited in New York and Japan as well as through out Australia. His first major commission, Messenger 1983 was awarded as a result of the Ian Potter prize, and stands prominently in the moat of the National Gallery of Victoria.
