For the past decade, Deborah Beck has been recording and investigating the ornamental aspects of buildings: patterned ceilings, sculpted facades, elaborate porticos and capitals, and gothic vaults in cemeteries. She has translated these studies into mixed media drawings and paintings, ranging from restrained, delicate pencil drawings to thickly impastoed and exuberant paintings and collages.
