Architects impression of proposed commission by Ari Purhonen

Public Art Commission

In early 2006 a public artwork 'Litmus' by Sydney based artist, Ari Purhonen was incorporated into the Thomas Street facade of UTS' new Science and Research Institutes Building. The artwork consists of a series of coloured metal panels integrated into the existing building structure at street level. The artwork links science and art through the study of light and colour. Playing with parallax and perspective, the panels change colour from orange to yellow when viewed from one direction and from violet to blue when viewed in opposition.
