Donation & Cultural Gifts

UTS is honoured to have received significant gifts of artwork over the past twenty years. Works of art acquired by the University, either by gift or purchase, must further the vision for the Collection as outlined in the UTS Art Collection Acquisition and Management Policy (link external to UTS Art Collection site).

When an artwork is offered as a gift to the Art Collection, it is considered by the Curator and Committee only if it meets the collection's acquisition criteria, and is formally accepted through a Deed of Gift which grants unconditional ownership to the University.

Donors may be eligible for tax benefits under the Australian Government's Cultural Gifts Program (link to external site) and are encouraged to seek advice from their own financial and taxation advisors.

Potential donors are invited to discuss their work(s) with the curators, as the first step in the gifting process. Where appropriate, UTS Art Collection staff will then assist with organising valuations and liaising with the Australian Government's Cultural Gifts Program.
