Artwork on Loan
Over 250 photographs by artists such as Fiona Hall, Bill Henson, Rosemary Laing, Tracey Moffatt, Deborah Paauwe and Michael Riley hang on walls of City Campus buildings. These photographs belong to Pat Corrigan AM, successful businessman and avid collector of Australian art.
"Nothing gives me more satisfaction than seeing works from my collection hanging so the public can view them" - Pat Corrigan, November 2004.
More recently, a number of paintings by indigenous Australian artists have also been loaned to UTS from the Corrigan Collection. These include a remarkable group of paintings by the Spinifex Artists from Western Australia, as well as large scale paintings by artists such as Ronnie Tjampitjinpa, Ngoia Napaltjarri Pollard, and Wentja Napaltjarri.
Since 2010, the UTS has benefitted from the loan of several works of art from the collection of Brian and Gene Sherman. They include paintings by Australian artists Michael Johnson and Charles Blackman, a series of photographs from Chinese performance artist Huan Zhang, and a large tapestry by William Kentridge.
Frank Watters of Sydney's famous Watters Gallery is also a generous lender of extraordinary work, including several paintings by Richard Larter. The largest of these, a 21 metre long painting titled Big Bang was on loan and on display in the Tower Building since 2000. This magnificent painting was gifted to UTS by Frank Watters in 2008.
