Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artworks
UTS has collected an important range of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art over the last 15 years, including paintings on canvas, paper and bark, prints and sculptures. In keeping with the UTS Protocols (PDF) for the acquisition, collection and exhibition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art, the Collection incudes work by both urban artists and artists from regional and remote centres.
The collection includes works by Jean Baptist Apuatimi, Bronwyn Bancroft, Gordon Bennett, Tracey Linn Bostock, Johnny Bulunbulun, Butcher Cherel, Phillip Gudthaykudthay, Gordon Hookey, Kitty Kantilla, Mick Kubarkku, John Mawurndjul, Sally Morgan, Jimmy Njiminjuma, Ada bird Petyarre, Judy Watson amongst others. Artists from Yuendumu produced the stunning Fire & Water Suite of etchings displayed throughout the UTS Student Accommodation building Gumal Ngurang on Broadway.
