History

As the Chairman of the inaugural Fine Arts Committee Professor Peter Johnson, foundation Chancellor of UTS, was the driving force in establishing the UTS Art Collection and later the UTS Gallery.

Formed in 1990 from the amalgamated art collections of the NSW Institute of Technology, Sydney College of the Arts design school, Kuring-gai College of Advanced Education and the Institute of Technical and Adult Teacher Education of the Sydney College of Advanced Education the UTS Art Collection holds works by over 500 Australian artists.
