How we collect

UTS builds its Art Collection by acquiring works through current exhibitions at commercial galleries, through special commissions, and by accepting donations of exceptional art pieces from artists and collectors.

Managing the Collection is guided and governed by the University's Art Advisory Committee. Meeting four times a year the Committee assess the significance of all works put forward by the curator in accordance with the UTS Art Collection Acquisition and Management Policy.[link to UTS policy site]

Growing the Collection

The current strengths of the permanent UTS Art Collection are post-1960s painting and printmaking, as well as holding some notable examples of mid to late 20thC Australian sculpture. The main aims for the Collection's development are to consolidate the existing collection of contemporary art and to build a collection of works which spring from the creative use of technology, as well as refer to and interpret the use of technology in society.

Follow the links to Art Around UTS to find out more about what's in the collection, or the Donors and Lenders section to see how to help the collection grow.
